The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) confirmed on Tuesday that it is processing special permits for 712 provincial bus units to transport passengers to various provinces during Holy Week.
"Sa ngayon po, nakatanggap na ang LTFRB ng petisyon or pino-proseso na po para sa special permit na 712 units as of today na mga buses na mag-augment sa iba't ibang probinsya ngayong Holy Week," Joel Bolano, LTFRB technical division head, said during a press briefing.
Bus companies are allowed to request a permit for an additional 25% of bus units to cater to massive passenger flow during the Holy Week season.
"'Pag mga ganitong season, nagdadagdag ang LTFRB ng mga buses papuntang probinsya para matugunan 'yung pagtaas ng pasahero," he added.
The special permit will be valid from March 31 to April 17 for selected public utility vehicles (PUVs).
President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. earlier moved the non-working day in observance of Araw ng Kagitingan to Monday, April 10, while April 6 and 7 will be regular holidays in observance of Holy Week.
