Filipinos in Singapore are now lining up to vote for their preferred candidates for the May 2022 elections, according to photos from the Philippine Embassy in Singapore.
They arrived on the first day of the month-long period of absentee voting for Filipinos overseas which began on Sunday, April 10, and will last until May 9.
According to Elaiza Sabile David, director of the Commission on Elections' Information and Education Department, there are four ways to vote for overseas Filipinos.
These four include automated personal voting, automated postal, manual person, and manual postal.
David said over 1.6 million Filipinos worldwide are expected to cast their votes for this year's elections, encouraging these Filipinos to carry out their right of suffrage.
"Sana kahit nasa ibang bansa ay nasa puso pa rin ang kapakanan ng bansa. Isang malaking ambag po nila ay ang pagboto at malaking bagay po iyon kahit isang boto lang 'yan," she told DZRH in an interview.
(We hope that even if they are in other countries, they will still think of the country’s future. One of their biggest contributions is voting and their vote matters even if it is just one.)
