The Traslacion 2026, the longest in history, officially ended at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, after the procession of the Jesus Nazareno lasted for nearly 31 hours.

According to authorities, the carriage of the image of Jesus Nazareno departed from the Quirino Grandstand at 3:58 a.m. on Friday, January 9, and finally arrived at Quiapo Church on Saturday, January 10 at 10:50 a.m., after 30 hours and 50 minutes of travel.

This year’s event is considered the longest Traslacion on record.

Early Saturday morning, the image arrived at San Sebastian Basilica, where the traditional Dungaw—a moment when the image is briefly presented for public veneration—began at around 4:05 a.m.

For the first time in history, church officials, led by Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, rector and parish priest of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, initially announced that the image would be temporarily brought inside the church before the continuation of the procession.

The longest delay along the route was recorded in the Arlegui Street area in Quiapo, extending toward Duque de Alba and Castillejos streets, where the andas lingered for several hours due to extremely dense crowds.

Authorities reported repeated standstills in the area, particularly from Arlegui Street near Quezon Boulevard, as the volume of devotees continued to slow the procession’s progress.

Millions of devotees joined and followed the procession despite the long hours, as the pace of the carriage slowed due to thick crowds along the route.

Authorities, including police and volunteer groups, closely monitored the situation to ensure order and the safety of devotees until the successful conclusion of the Traslacion.

The Traslacion 2026 once again highlighted the deep faith and devotion of devotees to the Black Nazarene, even amid exhaustion and the challenges brought by the record-long procession.
