Light plane goes missing after take off in Cauayan, Isabela

A light plane carrying two passengers reportedly went missing after it took off Cauayan Airport in Isabela province on Thursday morning, Nov. 30, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported.

According to the initial information released by CAAP PCpt. Eduard Caballero, the light plane with a tail number RP-C 1234 took off at exactly 9:39 AM and was expected to land in Palanan airport.

The captain was identified as Capt. Levy N. Abul II while the passenger was not named.

“Please be informed that Cyclone Aircraft with tail number RP-C 1234 piloted by Capt. Levy N. Abul II with one passenger on board departed from Cauayan Airport at about 9:39 AM of November 30, 2023, has not yet arrived up to this time at Palanan Airport,” Caballero said.

The CAAP official mentioned that their personnel could not contact the onboard pilot.

“Personnel of this station coordinated with Cauayan Airport Tower. Accordingly, the aforesaid Aircraft lost its communication and until this time has no communication with the pilot,” he said.

Search and rescue operations have commenced.
