Presidential aspirant Leody De Guzman on Wednesday disapproved the proposal to use the first and only nuclear power plant in Bataan in order to slow down the growing power rates in the Philippines.
During the DZRH's Bakit Ikaw? Presidential Job Interview, De Guzman said nuclear energy is too complex and cannot be controlled by people.
He also belied claims that the nuclear power plant can help to reduce the price of local electricity, saying that it's just a "myth."
Ka Leody also noted that renewable energy is labor-intensive and would create jobs for Filipinos. It can also help in boosting the country's pandemic-hit economy.
For the labor leader, he sees solar energy as the most suitable for the country.
The Bataan Nuclear Power Plant was completed but never fueled due to safety concerns and issues of corruption and cronyism under the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s regime
