It's official! Korean singer IU and actor Lee Jong Suk welcomed the new year with a big announcement as they confirmed to be in a serious relationship.

In a statement, Lee's agency, HighZium Studio, said the two "progressed from being close acquaintances into being a couple, and they are maintaining a serious relationship."

"Please show lots of support so they can continue their beautiful relationship," it added.

Meanwhile, IU's agency EDAM Entertainment also confirmed it afterward.

Prior to this, Jong suk's sweet acceptance speech at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards became the talk of the town on social media as it appears to be dedicated to his 'special someone'.

Korean media outlet Dispatch, which annually reveals couples every first day of the year, reported that the two have been dating for 4 months and spent Christmas together in Nagoya, Japan.

Lee Jong Suk is an actor known worldwide for his Kdramas Big Mouth, Pinocchio, While You Were Sleeping, and Doctor Stranger.

IU is a solo star performer known for her songs Bbibbi, Blueming, and Celebrity. She also starred in the hit series Hotel Del Luna, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and Dream High.
