Claudine Co, a singer and lifestyle vlogger, has deactivated her YouTube and Instagram accounts after drawing flak for showcasing her lavish lifestyle amid national attention on failed and fictitious flood control projects.
The internet personality’s wealth became a hot-button issue online, resulting in severe bashing, following a vlog which showed her aboard a private plane bound for La Union.
The 25-year-old is reportedly the daughter of Christopher Co, a former Ako Bicol Congressman and co-founder of Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corp.
She is also the niece of Elizaldy Co, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sunwest Group of Companies. He was also formerly chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations before his removal from the post earlier this year.
Both Hi-Tone and Sunwest are among the Top 15 contractors who received the bulk of flood control projects in recent years, according to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s list.
Claudine rose to popularity through her house tour vlog and other lifestyle content, amassing over 340,000 subscribers on YouTube.
This is not her first time under scrutiny. In 2023, she faced major backlash online for allegedly “sexualizing” Jennie Kim from BLACKPINK after having watched the K-pop girl group perform live.
