The Ilocos Norte government said on Wednesday that the Laoag International Airport will be providing a free shuttle service for passengers arriving without a pre-arranged vehicle to take them to the city proper.
According to Metro Ilocos Council project head Nicollete Pilar, the government has started assigning shuttle buses to fetch arriving passengers at any time of the day through Philippine Airlines.
Yesterday, Florida Transport Inc.'s pink bus, labeled "PGIN Free Shuttle Service," started transporting passengers from the airport to their hotels.
Courtesy of the Ilocos Norte government, the free shuttle service was launched during the term of then-governor and now Senator Ferdinand Marcos in 2012 to serve local and foreign visitors.
Meanwhile, the Ilocos Norte government started providing free rides to the airport in the pre-pandemic times, specifically during the holidays when balikbayans and tourists came to Ilocos Norte to spend Christmas with their families.
