The Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) conducted a protest on Wednesday, June 12 amid the celebration of 126th Independence Day of the Philippines.

According to the report of RH Boy Gonzales, the protest was led by BMP Chairperson Leody De Guzman seeking the country to be free from “starvation wages” and economic Charter Change (Cha-cha).

Living wage, hindi “employers’ capacity to pay," said De Guzman in a statement.

Aside from seeking freedom in the West Philippine Sea, the group claimed that the economic Cha-Cha had surrendered to the Chinese and made Filipino workers "helpers".

They also called out political dynasties that he said were complicit with the big corporations in the country.

De Guzman called on his fellow protesters to hate elites who became politicians only to become rich.

Meanwhile, the Manila Police District stopped the militant group from holding a protest in Mendiola.

Police said around 80 protesters joined the rally.
