“I am a Duterte. The strength you raised me with will go untamed.”
This was the promise made by former President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, amid the tension over the former’s arrest on Tuesday, March 11.
Since Tuesday, the former president’s allies have been vocal about their disapproval of Duterte’s arrest. They claimed that the former president was illegally detained without the issuance of an arrest warrant.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, March 12, Kitty expressed she would forever walk with pride knowing she is the former president’s daughter.
“I will forever walk with pride knowing that I am your daughter, your blood. I am a Duterte. The strength you raised me with will go untamed,” she captioned her post.
“I will stand by the promise I made you today. I love you,” she added.

Duterte's health condition
Meanwhile, in a series of Instagram stories, Kitty said that Duterte was not permitted to seek medical attention.
In an update late Tuesday, she wrote, “They are denying my dad the proper healthcare he needs. They are keeping him confined here and not allowing us to bring him to the hospital.”
“He is getting weaker by the minute,” she added.
The flight bound for The Hague
Subsequently, the Duterte camp insisted that Duterte was boarded onto a plane, accompanied by authorities, without informing them where he was being taken. In another Instagram update, Kitty shared a photo of the airplane, claiming it was used to “kidnap” her father, adding the hashtag never forget.
According to her update, Duterte has boarded the plane with one nurse. Additionally, she mentioned the former president’s flight lasted over eight hours, with only a piece of sandwich to eat.
Earlier today, a writ of habeas corpus was filed by Atty. Salvador Panelo before the Supreme Court. Kitty served as its petitioner, asking the high court to compel the Philippine government to bring her father back to the country.
Meanwhile, reports mentioned that Vice President Sara Duterte, together with her brother and Davao City 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte, have flown to the Netherlands early Wednesday, to assist their father.
