As fans patiently await the release of the third instalment of TBA Studios’ Bayaniverse, Karylle gushed over her role in the historical biopic Quezon. She even shared some parallels she noticed with former First Lady Aurora Quezon!
In a social media post on Tuesday, the screen and theatre actress shared a series of images with her fellow cast members during their table-read session. The actress expressed how honored and excited she is to portray the former first lady in the film. She also thanked TBA Studios for the opportunity.
In addition to her excitement, Karylle also shared what she found during her initial research for her role as Aurora Quezon at a library in Singapore.
“Sharing my library day in Singapore as I did my initial research. Can you imagine my surprise as I found photos of Doña Aurora in my fave photo spot in White Cross Children's Home where she served as an honorary president,” she captioned her post.
She continued, “I have been a volunteer as someone from the community since my bestie @mzhappy258's debut in the home when we were 18. Another photo coincidentally is where we shot spiels in my White Cross podcast episode for K's Drama.”
Karylle also rediscovered her old Red Cross pin, which was gifted to her years ago during volunteer work. As the actress noticed the parallels, she mentioned it was fitting to bring it to their first reading as Doña Aurora, who also happened to have served for the Red Cross.
Karylle gave a peak of the cast table read earlier this week, where she's seen posing with Jericho Rosales, who would portray her husband and former President Manuel Quezon.
Meanwhile, Mon Confiado will also reprise his role as Emilio Aguinaldo, while Benjamin Alves will return as the young Manuel Quezon.
Last January, TBA Studios announced that Bayaniverse would pick up where they left off. According to their announcement, the film will begin filming this March and is slated for a theatrical release later this year.
“Quezon” completes TBA Studios’ Bayaniverse trilogy, which includes box office hits “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.”
It would follow the life of former President Quezon, highlighting his tumultuous presidential campaign against then-president Emilio Aguinaldo, including his reign during the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944.
