Labor leader Leody De Guzman on Tuesday conceded in the presidential race after placing 8th among 10 candidates.
Despite admitting defeat in the polls, De Guzman urged the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to release an explanation on the several reports of irregularities during the May 9 local and national elections.
"Hindi ko naman na ilalaban ‘yung malayong boto ko. Hindi ko na ‘yan ilalaban para makahabol ako pero ako ay naniniwala na dapat may ipaliwanag ‘yung Comelec. Marami nang report ng irregularities," the labor leader said.
As of 12:02 PM, De Guzman remained in the 8th spot with only 91,473 votes, according to the partial and unofficial election results from the Commission on Elections.
Former senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has continuously widened his gap with other presidentiables with 30,845,783 votes.
In 2019, De Guzman lost his senatorial bid after only placing 38th with 888,458 votes.
