The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) on Wednesday, January 10, announced the start of the dry-run of its “one Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), one wallet interoperability” project today.

“Mamayang 8 a.m. or 9 a.m., magsisimula na. We are hoping na this will be successful. Ang target natin na sana by July, full implementation of this project will be made by them,” TRB spokesperson Julius Corpuz told DZRH in an interview.

TRB earlier announced that those who are using tollways would have one account accompanied by an RFID tag connected to their vehicle.

The project supports cashless transactions to reduce queues and remove cash transactions in every expressway.

“Isang RFID either for AutoSweep of isang RFID for EasyTrip. I-cross register muna sa kabila kung ano ang napili. At this time, you are maintaining 2 accounts," he said.

Corpuz also said the dry-runs would ensure the smooth transition of the project ahead of its full implementation.

The TRB director sought the public’s understanding amid the transition phase, citing that “it takes time” following equipment and system replacements.
