Filipina theatre and film actress Joanna Ampil happily announced on Instagram that she has joined the cast of Phantom of the Opera in London's West End.
Ampil shared that her inclusion was "so surreal!"
"The Phantom Of The Opera is a huge tick off my bucket list. It’s one of those shows from my generation that I’ve always wanted to do," she wrote on the post.
Ampil is to play Carlotta Giudicelli, the soprano lead at the Paris Opera House in the musical. The cast is set to open at His Majesty's Theatre beginning July 29.
The actress said she had auditioned in the past but was disappointed.
"As devastating as it was, it just wasn’t the right time for me then," she disclosed.
This time, however, she is ecstatic to be in the 2024-2025 cast, with "theatre legends" and "amazing" cast, creative and production teams, and crew.

Ampil has starred in many other West End productions and international tours.
She played Kim in "Miss Saigon," Éponine and Fantine in "Les Miserables," Mary Magdalene in West End's rendition of "Jesus Christ Superstar," and Grizabella in "Cats," to name a few.
She was also the first female Engineer in Sheffield Theatre's 2023 reimagining of "Miss Saigon."
