Controlling the rising prices of commodities and services, increasing workers' salaries, and access to affordable food are among the top concerns of Filipino adults, according to the results of the latest OCTA Research survey released on Thursday.

In OCTA’s Tugon ng Bayan survey conducted from Oct. 23 to 27, respondents were asked to mention the urgent national issues they believe the Marcos administration should prioritize.

Managing inflation emerged as the top urgent concern with 57 percent, followed by increasing worker’s wages at 48 percent, and access to affordable food at 46 percent.

Other national concerns that Filipino want to be addressed by the government are as follows:

  • Creating more jobs - 29 percent

  • Providing free quality education - 26 percent

  • Reducing the poverty of many Filipinos - 24 percent

  • Fighting graft and corruption in government - 11 percent

  • Promoting peace and order in the country - 9 percent

  • Fighting criminality - 9 percent

Meanwhile, controlling the spread of the COVID-19 virus which was the most urgent concern in the last two years, had a significant decline in rank.

In the October 2022 survey, only 9 percent answered that it is an urgent national issue.

In terms of top urgent personal concerns, 68 percent of respondents said they want to stay healthy and avoid illnesses.

At least 50 percent said they want to have a secure and well-paying job or source of income, and 48 percent answered that they want to finish schooling or be able to provide schooling for their children.

The survey was conducted with 1,200 respondents nationwide.
