The local government unit (LGU) of Baguio has authorized the Igorot Stone Kingdom to reopen to the public after nearly five months of closure.
According to Baguio Public Information Office (PIO), the City Planning, Development, and Sustainability Office granted the man-made tourist site a special permit to operate for three months.
The permit was given after the Igorot Stone Kingdom’s management signed an affidavit of understanding vowing to abide by the conditions set by Baguio LGU’s Local Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals (LZBAA).
The temporary special permit can be revoked once it fails to comply with the terms.
"The company's compliance with the terms will be monitored by the LZBAA, the Public Order and Safety Division and the barangay," Baguio PIO said.
Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the decision to grant the permit was based on “assessments, deliberations and public consultations including assurances on addressing traffic and garbage problems.”
In November last year, Magalong ordered the closure of Igorot Stone Kingdom due to safety issues and that it operated without business and building permits.
