The opening ceremony of the Presidential Museum at Baguio Mansion House on Romulo Drive in Baguio City will take place at noon today, September 8, and will be led by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
A popular tourist site, the Baguio Mansion House is recognized for its rich historical heritage and architectural beauty. The building has received major renovations under the First Lady's initiative.
The Presidential Mansion includes seven galleries that feature displays of former presidents and their contributions to the nation.
The Presidential Museum aims to showcase and educate the public about the country's past presidents, including their history, artifacts, and memorabilia from their terms in office.
Among the museum’s attractions are the President’s Office, the Presidential Hall, and a gift shop.
Originally intended as a seat of power for American governors and generals, the mansion house eventually became the official summer residence of the Philippine President from the Commonwealth era onward.
Since its completion in 1908, it has observed numerous key moments in the country’s history. The structure suffered damage during World War II. By 1947, it had been restored and enlarged to accommodate additional rooms and a conference area.
The National Historical Commission of the Philippines, known previously as the National Historical Institute, proclaimed Baguio Mansion House a National Historical Landmark in January 2009.
The museum will open for the first time as a presidential museum in Baguio City, with free admission to visitors.
