The International Criminal Court (ICC) Appeals Chamber is set to issue its decision on former Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s request for interim release on November 28, 2025.
According to a scheduling order posted on the ICC website, the judgment will be delivered in open court at 10:30 a.m. The Hague time (5:30 p.m. in the Philippines). The order was issued on November 20, 2025.
Duterte earlier appealed after the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I rejected his Urgent Request for Interim Release and Renewed Request for Interim Release last September. His legal team has sought temporary freedom while proceedings in his case continue.
The former president remains detained at the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands. He is facing charges of crimes against humanity linked to the deadly anti-drug campaign carried out during his administration.
In the Philippines, legal efforts to secure Duterte’s return continue. On Tuesday, November 18, legal counsel for Veronica “Kitty” Duterte filed an urgent motion before the Supreme Court, seeking the immediate resolution of pending habeas corpus petitions that aim to compel the government to bring the former president home from ICC custody.
The ICC Appeals Chamber’s ruling on November 28 will determine whether Duterte will be granted temporary release as his case progresses.
