On Tuesday, House of Representatives (HRep) Secretary General Reginald Velasco announced at Heroes Hall, Malacañan Palace, that they are in the final stages of preparation for hosting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Velasco discussed the ongoing renovations needed to accommodate partners from the Office of the President (OP) and the Senate. Changes in room assignments for all the guests were also finalized on Tuesday, along with the initial walk-through of the SONA scenario by officials from the OP.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was also asked to provide details on the rerouting plan, so that public advisories may be issued to alert commuters and motorists on SONA day.
Furthermore, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported its plan to deploy 22,000 policemen in nearby and surrounding areas around Metro Manila.
According to DSG Floro Banaybanay, of the HRep’s Engineering and Physical Facilities Department, the changes in facilitation was imposed for the seamless flow of activities of the guests, especially the President, his entourage, and his relatives.
Preparations for SONA would be finalized on July 15, 2024.
