The House of Representatives welcomed the Supreme Court's (SC) decision to dismiss Atty. Harry Roque's petition for a writ of amparo against the Quad-Committee.

Lanao del Sur Representative Lordan Suan said the Court's decision acknowledges Congress' legislative authority in conducting inquiries. He emphasized the importance of inquiries in aid of legislation, as they promote transparency and accountability in the pursuit of truth.

According to the SC, filing a writ of amparo against the Committee is not a solution to addressing congressional actions or detention orders.

The House stated that its hearings are conducted to assure the public that individuals who violate the law will be held accountable.

In a press conference on Tuesday, SC Spokesperson Atty. Camille Sue Mae Ting announced that the court had denied Roque's petition. While the petition for a writ of amparo was dismissed, Roque's petition for prohibition is still under review.

The House Quad-Committee cited Roque in contempt twice for dishonesty regarding his absence and failure to submit the required documents.

Roque is believed to be involved in ongoing Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) cases.
