House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III will consult the House Infrastructure Committee on whether the latter should halt its investigation into the anomalous flood control projects.
RH Milky Rigonan reported on Monday, September 22, that Dy would consult the committee members about its investigation. The House Infra Comm had already conducted two hearings on the subject matter.
According to the House Speaker, he believes that the Infra Comm should entrust the investigation to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), an independent fact-finding body created by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Since some of their colleagues are implicated, Dy reasoned that the public might doubt the credibility of any decision or outcome from the committee’s investigation.
Meanwhile, House Infra Comm Chairman and Bicol Saro Partylist Rep. Terry Ridon said he would consult with Dy on the matter to know which direction to steer concerning the flood control anomalies.
For now, Ridon said the committee would not submit any reports, documents, or transcripts to the ICI. This decision aligns with the Speaker’s initiative to have a consultation regarding the committee’s position on the matter.
