Jesuit Communications (JesCom) on Thursday unveiled the cast of its upcoming historical film "GomBurZa".
The film is based on the story of the three Filipino Catholic priests who were executed by garrote, after being accused of treason and sedition charges in 1872.
Veteran actor Dante Rivero is set to play Padre Gomez, well-known actor Enchong Dee as Burgos, and seasoned theater and movie thespian Cedrick Juan as Zamora.
Meanwhile, Piolo Pascual will portray the special role of Padre Pelaez, the former mentor of Burgos.
The casts were unveiled a day before the three martyr priests' 151st death anniversary,
They will be joined by other renowned actors, namely, Epi Quizon, Jaime Fabregas, Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, Khalil Ramos, Elijah Canlas, Neil Ryan Sese, Paolo O’Hara, Tommy Alejandrino, Gerry Kaimo, Dylan Tay Talon, Jomari Angeles, Bon Lentejas, and many more.
Jose Lorenzo 'Pepe' Diokno will direct the film from the screenplay written by Rody Rivera.
The historical film will begin shooting soon, according to JesCom.
Before "GomBurza", JesCom also produced "Ignacio de Loyola", an action-drama biopic about Saint Ignatius of Loyola. It was screened back in 2016.
