Former Commission on Elections (COMELEC ) Commissioner and P3WD party-list first nominee Rowena Guanzon on Tuesday filed charges of libel and unjust vexation against former National Youth Commission (NYC) Undersecretary Ronald Cardema.
Guanzon filed the charges against Cardema before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
She also added that she will file a case against the latter's wife, Duterte Youth party-list representative Marie Cardema. However, Guanzon did not specify what complaints she will file.
"Ronald Cardema's attack on me is already excessive. Even though he's a government official. It looks like he won't really stop harassing me. If he has something against me, he should go to court. And this is what I am doing right now," Guanzon said.
"He seemed to have no fear of the law because he thinks he has a strong grip on the administration," she added.
Cardema had claimed that Guanzon had asked the five nominees of the P3PWD party-list, who won one seat in the last elections, to resign by declaring incapacity so that she could become its first nominee.
He alalso alleged that Guanzon has been misrepresenting herself as the nominee of the P3PWD party-list during the campaign period.
Guanzon, however, countered that Cardema is just out for revenge after she, back as a commissioner, objected to him being the first nominee of the Duterte Youth party-list because he was overaged.
Cardema was previously substituted as the top nominee of Duterte Youth but was later disqualified for being ineligible because of his age.
