The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on Thursday, Nov. 9, explained the personal accident insurance being offered by the agency.

“Ang personal accident insurance na ino-offer ng GSIS ay nagbibigay ng proteksyon sa miyembro 24/7 kahit nasaan man insured, dito man o sa ibang bansa, work-related man o hindi ang sanhi ng aksidente,” GSIS President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso said in an episode of GSIS Ginhawa For All.

Veloso also listed the people qualified for the GSIS personal accident insurance:

  • Class A - GSIS active members

  • Class B - GSIS retirees, pensioners, spouse, children, siblings of active members, retirees, pensioners, parents of active members

  • Between 3 to 80 years old; and

  • Children under guardianship of active GSIS members, retirees and pensioners (subject to the submission of proof of guardianship)

The GSIS chief also explained what happens to a member when they die.

The state pension fund also offers a group accident package, which Veloso explained the Department of Education (DepEd) was part of.

In case a member gets into any accident, they have to submit a formal notice with the following requirements to apply for the claim:

  • Name and complete contact details of the claimant/victim; and agency they are under

  • Email address

  • Landline or phone number

  • Contact person

  • Mailing address

“Dapat din nilang tandaan na kapag may claim, kailangan itong i-file within 60 days of the date of the accident,” Veloso said.

Applications for accident insurance should be sent to [email protected] for those residing in the National Capital Region (NCR). Those outside NCR may bring their application to the nearest GSIS branch office.
