An extension for the Government Service Insurance System’s (GSIS) emergency load program has been granted to financially assist its members and pensioners who have been severely affected by Typhoon Enteng.

The loan program applies to a number of calamity-declared areas nationwide.

The deadlines are now as follows:

  • Batangas, Rizal, and the National Capital Region (NCR) - October 25
  • Baco and Pinamalayan in Oriental Mindoro - October 26
  • Bulacan and Pampanga - October 29
  • Camiling, Tarlac - October 31
  • San Andres, Romblon and Mabitac in Laguna - November 1
  • Ilocos Norte and La Union - November 5
  • Ilocos Sur - November 13
  • Mangatarem, Pangasinan - November 21

To avail of the loan, active members must:

  • Reside in, or work at calamity-declared areas
  • Not be on unpaid leave
  • Not have administrative or legal cases
  • Have no due and demandable loans
  • Have at least six months’ premium payments before application
  • Have a take-home net pay not below P5,000, in accordance with the General Appropriations Act
  • (For old-age and disability pensioners) Make sure their net monthly pension stays at least 25 percent after deductions to gradually pay off the loan

Members and pensioners currently with an emergency loan balance can borrow as much as ₱40,000 for settling existing loans, with a maximum net amount of ₱20,000. Those without, on the other hand, can get a ₱20,000 loan.

The loan has an interest rate of 6 percent per annum, and can be repaid within three years.

Those qualified for the emergency loan may submit an application through the GSIS Touch Mobile App, or the Wireless Automated Processing System (GWAPS) kiosks found in GSIS branches all over the country, major government offices like the Department of Education’s, provincial capitols, municipal offices, and some Robinsons and SM malls.
