Protesters from various groups gathered in protest on Friday, urging the progression of the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a report by RH Val Gonzales, it was noted that various groups convened as early as 7 AM, urging Congress to move forward with the impeachment complaints against Vice President Duterte.
As of 11 AM, the Quezon City Police District's District Intelligence and Management Division estimated that over 4,000 people were participating in the rally.
However, before noon, rally participants gradually left the area. The crowd dispersed following a brief rainfall along EDSA White Plains.
Speakers on stage expressed strong condemnation, including Ronald Llamas, former political adviser to the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
Llamas pointed out that the allegations against the Dutertes, such as crimes against humanity and corruption, should not be forgotten by the public even after more than two years since former President Rodrigo Duterte's term ended.
"Anong klaseng bansa tayo kung papayagan natin ang ganitong pagwawalang-hiya sa ating ng harapan. Ibig sabihin, hindi lang ito tungkol sa kanila [mga Duterte], ito ay tungkol din sa atin," said Llamas.
"Ano ‘yung ipapamana natin sa susunod na henerasyon kung papayagan natin lahat ng ito? Kaya dapat ay ikulong, i-impeach, at hulihin na ang mga Duterte," he added.
Moreover, another rally is set to take place later this afternoon at the EDSA Shrine in Ortigas.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) previously warned motorists about several roads that will be closed today, including those near the People Power Monument and the EDSA Shrine Corner along Ortigas Avenue.
Approximately 2,000 personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) are set to be deployed to ensure the security of the event.
