Gonzales eyes 'temporary homes' in unused private lands during emergencies
by John Dexter Tilo02 February 2022

In times of emergency, presidential aspirant Norberto Gonzales said that he wants to put up temporary homes in unused lands from private owners to decongest crowded communities.

He said during the Bakit Ikaw: The Presidential Job Interview that this could help the country in its response against COVID-19.

"Pakikiusapan natin. Ipagamit niyo na muna 'yung lupa niyo rito sa community na ito, para maglagay tayo ng temporary homes diyan para magkaroon ng decongestion ang ating mga crowded communities," he said.

(We will negotiate with them so they can let their lands be used for a community, where we can put temporary homes to decongest crowded communities.)

Gonzales, however, assured land owners that their lands will not be taken away from them during the plan.

"We will guarantee the owner of these lands - walang papayagan ang gobyerno na mang-agaw ng lupa," he said.

(We will guarantee the owner of these lands that the government will not let anyone take their land.)

The presidential aspirant issued the proposal after stressing that the National Capital Region and other provinces need to be decongested.
