The Gabriela Women party list on Wednesday condemned fast food restaurant Subway Philippines for objectifying women in its latest commercial advertisement.

In the now-deleted viral commercial video, Subway depicted social media personality Kimpoy Feliciano as a "lover boy" who is torn in choosing between three women namely "B", "M", and "T".

The three women represented the different sandwich options of Subway.

"We would like to remind Subway that women are not pieces of meat. The advertisement reeks of sexism and misogyny. It is deeply offensive, triggering, and insensitive, especially when many Filipino women continue to experience various forms of sexual violence and abuse," the group stressed in a statement.

"This is a stark reminder that, when it comes to the way we portray women in the media, we still have a very long way to go," it added.

The Gabriela party list urged the fast food restaurant to take down the advertisement and release a public apology.

"May this incident serve as a lesson for companies to do better, and be more sensitive to the plight of women," the group said.

The commercial ad received backlash on social media last week.

Many netizens called out the company for its "sexist" and "machismo" tone.
