G-Dragon’s lawyer on Tuesday, Nov. 21, announced filing charges against malicious slander toward the BIGBANG member amid a probe for his alleged drug use.
On October 26, reports surfaced that G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji Yong, was booked without detention for allegedly violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics. He tested negative in a drug test on November 20.
“We are currently taking legal action against those who posted malicious posts including defamation, insults, sexual harassment, spread of false information, and malicious slander against Kwon Ji Yong,” G-Dragon’s lawyer Kim Soo-hyun said, according to a translation from Soompi.
This came after Kim stated that “speculative false reports” and Youtube videos regarding the South Korean artist’s case allegedly appointing a lawyer who was a former constitutional judge and excessive lawyer fees made rounds on the internet.
Kim said they were accumulating “multiple complaints” to investigative agencies through evidence from fans’ reports that would result in defamation.
“We are preparing to submit multiple complaints to investigative agencies by collecting evidence of acts that violate Kwon Ji Yong’s rights and interests such as insults and defamation through self-monitoring and reports from fans, and we plan to respond with a no-tolerance policy,” he added.
