The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that rains will persist until midweek despite the evacuation of Severe Tropical Storm Chedeng, as the southwest monsoon affects several locations across the country.

Chedeng (international name Guchol) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility about 7 p.m. on Sunday, according to PAGASA weather specialist Ana Clauren.

Clauren also stated that the tropical storm was 1,550 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kilometers per hour moving northeast at 35 kilometers per hour.

Heavy rain warnings were issued for Metro Manila, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Rizal on Monday.

Clauren added that rains brought by the southwest monsoon will persist early this week until midweek as they monitor another weather system, the frontal system, causing heavy rains in many areas across the country.

Monsoon rains will be experienced in the Ilocos region, Zambales, and Bataan, while the southwest monsoon will affect Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, the rest of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Occidental Mindoro, and Northern Palawan, including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

The rest of the country will see a partly cloudy to cloudy sky with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, according to the weather service.
