FPRRD’s camp cries illegal detention; claims no arrest warrant issued

“Sobra pa ito sa Martial Law, kung tatay niya [President Marcos Jr.] nag-announce ng martial law, ito [arrest warrant] walang announce announce. Walang right to legal assistance..tapos walang warrant, illegal detention na ito,” Former President Rodrigo Duterte’s common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña said in an exclusive interview.

On Tuesday morning, the former president arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. He was later taken away by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Philippine National Police (PNP) and brought to the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

According to the report by RH 7 Henry Uri, the former president entered Gate 5 of the Villamor Air Base, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) Spokesperson Lorraine Badoy and Senator Bong Go said.

Duterte is currently inside the Villamor Air Base office, where negotiations among his lawyers, the police from Camp Crame, and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), are in place.

As Duterte’s camp awaits the results of their negotiation with authorities, Avanceña described the turn of events as something worse than the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s declaration of martial law.

“Yung sakripisyo niya nung presidente siya, halos nanginginig kami [kasi] kaaway niya ang mga drug lord. Tapos ngayon, ganito ang buhay sa kanya. Ginawa niya ang lahat. Kita mo naman, yung mga may sakit nabibigyan kaagad ng lunas kasi may pera yung mga ospital. Ngayon nasaan ang pera pati health natin ninakaw,” she said.

According to her, Duterte was taken without an arrest warrant, adding she and Duterte’s lawyers are questioning the decision.

Moreover, Avanceña pointed out, “Kung nagagawa ang ganong klaseng pang-aabuso kay duterte mas sure na pwede mangyari sa ordinary people.”

Earlier, Senator Bong Go told reporters that Duterte was not permitted to meet with him, his doctor, and lawyers.

Former Executive Secretary Atty. Vic Rodriguez later echoed the statement in an exclusive interview with DZRH earlier.
