Former Interior Secretary Eduardo Año was appointed as the new National Security Adviser (NSA), the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced on Saturday, January 14.
In a Facebook post, PCO said President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has tapped Año, replacing the former University of the Philippines Professor Clarita Carlos.
He took an oath before Marcos at Malacañgan Palace as seen in the photos shared by PCO.
In a statement, Carlos said she quit because she realized that "it is no longer politic to continue as NSA to the President."
She announced that she has moved to the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department (CPBRD) of the House of Representatives where her expertise on "foreign, defense, and security police will be of use."
Carlos added she will "continue to help build a Better Philippines."
