The Department of Trade and Industry National Capital Region Office (DTI-NCR) launched the Metro Fiesta de Mayo Trade Fair, a four-day trade fair that aims micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) a platform for their businesses, in Greenhills, San Juan City on Thursday.

San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora and DTI-NCR director Marcelina Alcantara led the ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

Various merchandise made by small entrepreneurs will be showcased, ranging from processed meats, regional delicacies, leatherwear, and beauty products, among others.

Alcantara commended the San Juan City mayor for being supportive of MSMEs and for initiating livelihood training programs for his constituents.

Zamora thanked the DTI officials for choosing San Juan as a venue for the trade fair.

“This Fiesta de Mayo Trade Fair is a great opportunity to showcase and sell the products (of MSMEs). We all know that Greenhills is known as a shopper's destination," he said.

According to the San Juan City mayor, the mall is presently undergoing expansion and more space will be available to retailers in October.

“This means that more businesses will open here in Greenhills,” he added.

Also present at the opening event was the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) - NCR vice president Delia Jimenez and Metro Manila Association of Food Entrepreneurs President Betty Aw.

The Metro Fiesta de Mayo Trade Fair will go on until May 22.
