Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) Executive Director Atty. Herbert Matienzo has stepped down from his post.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Roque confirmed the resignation to DZRH, saying Matienzo resigned on September 3, 2025.
It can be recalled that the DTI formed a fact-finding team to investigate allegations of conflicts of interest, irregularities in accreditation, and possible abuses of authority that have raised concerns about the integrity of the Board's operations.
Roque earlier said the department will conduct a thorough review of the conduct of PCAB's current board members and officials and recommend actions to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., including their possible removal.
The Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) and PCAB were placed under the direct supervision of the DTI to strengthen oversight and ensure integrity and transparency in agencies involved in infrastructure development.
CIAP and PCAB are attached agencies of the DTI.
“Placing them under my direct supervision will ensure that order, transparency, and accountability are restored within these agencies,” Roque said in a statement on Wednesday.
