

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided more than Php 2.3 million worth of humanitarian assistance to families affected by Tropical Storm Kristine.
DSWD Asec. Irene Dumlao said on Wednesday, October 23, that the agency has provided a total of Php2,326,978.60 worth of food and non-food items to affected local government units (LGUs), including Albay, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon in Bicol Region; Bacolod City in Western Visayas; and North Cotabato in SOCCSKSARGEN.
To ensure that the main disaster hub of the DSWD has sufficient available stockpiles, Dumlao assured that volunteers continue to help in the repacking and hauling of family food packs in the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City.
"As of press time, 2,071,884 boxes of FFPs are available across all regions; of which, 176,381 boxes of FFPs are available in the NROC; 247,263 boxes of FFPS are lodged in the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC); while, 101,371 boxes of FFPs are available in the spokes and last mile warehouses of DSWD Field Office-5 (Bicol Region)," DSWD said in a statement.
Based on the report of the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Management, Information and Communication (DROMIC), as of 6AM on Wednesday, TS Kristine has affected 112,437 families or 457,489 individuals from 815 barangays in Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Out of the said number, 4,092 families or 15,715 individuals took shelter in 267 evacuation centers set up by LGUs in the affected regions.
