The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office - Bicol Region has distributed at least Php 339 million humanitarian aid to the victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
DSWD - Bicol Region Regional Director Norman Laurio said on Thursday, November 7, that the humanitarian assistance has reached 462,969 families.
Laurio mentioned that DSWD - Bicol Region delivered 35,000 family food packs, as well as six liters of bottled waters and other non-food items, to Naga City.
DSWD - Bicol Region will also provide Php 20.91 million worth of financial assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
Laurio stressed the importance of the whole-of-government approach in the in the disaster response operations in the Bicol Region, especially in reaching isolated areas that experienced floods.
"Katuwang natin ang halos lahat ng sangay ng gobyerno — Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Air Force, Bureau of Fire Protection, lahat yan," Laurio said on Thursday, November 7, during a media forum.
"(President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.) mismo ang nag-order sa lahat ng concerned national government agencies na tulungan sa relief operations ang ating mga kasama sa Camarines Sur at Albay," he added.
