

The driver involved in the vehicular accident at the NAIA Terminal 1 on early Sunday is now in the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the New NAIA Infra. Corp. (NNIC) said in its statement.
On early Sunday, May 4, a black SUV rammed into the walkway of the airport terminal’s entrance. Hours after the incident, the NNIC confirmed the accident, stating that it occurred at the departure level of NAIA Terminal 1.
“The area has since been secured, and access is now limited to authorized personnel from New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and MIAA Security, who are currently conducting a full investigation,” the NNIC’s statement read.
Moreover, the NNIC assured that individuals who sustained injuries are currently being treated, and the driver involved in the incident is now under the PNP’s custody.
“At this time, we are awaiting official confirmation on the cause of the incident and reports of injuries. We are closely coordinating with all concerned agencies to gather accurate information,” they said.
“We understand the concern this incident has caused, especially as images have circulated on social media. We urge the public not to speculate and to wait for verified updates, which will be issued as soon as they become available,” they added.
The follow-up report by RH 5 Val Gonzales stated that security groups, personnel, and paramedics are currently at the location.
In the latest update, Gonzales said the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1, following the accident.
