On August 27, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Arthur Tugade shared on DZRH Commuter Corner that the “mandatory” private motor vehicle inspection centers (PMVIC) testing has been put on hold.
Sec. Tugade said to revisit the issue surrounding the implementation of geographic area of responsibility (GAOR) before implementing the mandatory PMVIC testing for the required vehicle inspection.
Motorists now have the option to either use the smoke emission or PETC testing or the PMVIC testing.
Sec. Tugade also shares that the PMVIC prices now drop from P1,600 - 1,800 to P500 - 800 and retesting and reinspection have no additional charges.
