DOTr hopes talks with Japan will fasten completion of transport projects
by Ada Pelonia28 February 2024

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is hoping that the talks with the Japanese government will fasten the completion of the country’s big-ticket projects ahead of schedule.

“I hope this afternoon’s discussions will allow us to revise our timelines so our deadlines can be advanced. This can be achieved with the collaboration of every stakeholder,” DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista in a statement on Tuesday, February 27.

“By moving forward, our efforts to improve airports, public utility vehicles and coast guard vessels should raise them to world-class standards,” he added.

Bautista touted Japan’s cutting-edge technology, hoping it would hasten the country’s railway system.

“I have always said that leading-edge Japanese technology that distinguishes our rail projects reinforces the promise of transformed rail systems,” the transport chief said.

Bautista earlier hoped its talks with the Japan International Cooperation Agency will expedite the completion of the Metro Manila Subway Project and North-South Commuter Railway System in a bid to revive the country’s railway industry.
