The Department of Tourism (DOT) will keep the new tourist tagline ''Love The Philippines" despite criticism for the use of foreign stock footage in the promotional video for the campaign, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said Wednesday.
When asked if the DOT will continue to use the tourism slogan, which was only launched last week on June 27, Frasco confirmed it in an ambush interview during the 2022 Philippine Tourism Satellite Accounts and Tourism Statistics Dissemination Forum.
In her address, Frasco also emphasized the slogan ''Love the Philippines,'' and the slogan logo was displayed on the event stage.
However, the campaign's launch agency, DDB Philippines, claimed on Sunday that there was an "unfortunate oversight" in the use of non-original stock footage in an audiovisual presentation ostensibly promoting the Philippines.
The DOT has launched an investigation into the claims, which include at least five scenes shot in other countries, according to blogger Sass Sasot: rice terraces in Bali, Indonesia; a fisherman throwing a net in Thailand; a passenger plane in Zurich, Switzerland; jumping dolphins; and a person driving a vehicle on sand dunes in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Over the issue, the DOT has also canceled its contract with DDB Philippines, the advertising firm behind the aforementioned tourism campaign.
