The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday reminded that employees in the private sector who will be working on Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice holiday must receive double pay.

“Private sector employees who will report for work on June 28, the observance of Eid’l Adha, will be paid 200 percent of their wage,” DOLE said in a statement, citing the Labor Advisory No. 14 issued by DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.

In the advisory, Laguesma also said that those employees who will not report to work or go on leave of absence with pay shall be paid 100 percent of their wage, provided that they worked before the Eid’l Adha regular holiday.

Meanwhile, those employees who will render overtime work shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.

"The computation is an hourly rate of the basic wage x 200 percent x 130 percent x the number of hours worked,” Laguesma noted.

The DOLE Secretary also stated that employees who will work on the Eid’l Adha which also falls on their day off shall be paid an additional 30 percent of the basic wage of 200 percent.

Earlier, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. declared June 28 as a regular holiday in the country in observance of Eid Al-Adha in Islam.
