Labor and Employment Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma reminded employers to follow the proper pay rules for their respective employees during holidays.
Laguesma issued a labor advisory no. 21 series of 2022 which serves as a guideline for the right computation of the employee’s salary during the holidays in the months of October and November, particularly October 31 and November 1.
Prior to this, October 31 was declared a special non-working holiday by President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., however, in the pay rules of DOLE a principle of “No Work, No Pay” exists for employees who did not go to work last holiday.
Based on the advisory, an additional 30% will be affixed to the basic wage of the employee who went to work for the first 8 hours, while another 30% is included in the hourly rate of the employee if he or she has overtime.
If the employee works on a rest day, then 50% will be added on his or her basic wage for the first 8 hours.
