The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is set to investigate the Bureau of Immigration (BI) over alleged corruption, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin 'Boying' Remulla said on Thursday, Oct. 12.
In a press briefing, Remulla said there might be another pastilla scheme within the agency.
"I have scheduled zoom meeetings with several persons of Immigration para tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho namin. That's our committement kasi nga we are trying to uncover again, kasi parang nagkakaroon ng bagong buhay ang mga sindikato diyan na parang may pastillas na naman," he said.
According to the DOJ Chief, these syndicates were included in the blacklist.
"May info kami na sa blacklisted person na nakaka-in and out, P150,000 na ang presyo ng isang escort service sa blacklisted person. So we have to look at the structure on how it happens. So, pinag-aaralan namin ulit," he said.
A possible reorganization within BI may happen through the power of the President.
"The President is aware of these problems. He has said to me the many things he wanted to happen but that's for a later time," Remulla said.
The DOJ Chief said has talked with the BI Deputy Commissioner on the matter.
