The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) will provide humanitarian aid to 10,000 displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), who are still waiting for their unpaid salaries since 2016.

In a press statement, DMW Secretary Susan 'Toots' Ople said the DMW together with its attached agency, the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will release the Php 10,000 humanitarian package to the displaced workers.

She said the humanitarian package is also the initiative of the Marcos administration while there is a pending talk between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia this March.

"OWWA will soon issue the implementing guidelines for the release of the funds, according to OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio," Ople said.

In November last year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman pledged that the Saudi government will provide two billion riyals or Php 30.52 billion to shoulder the unpaid salaries OFWs who worked in construction companies that declared bankruptcy in 2015 and 2016.
