Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Eduardo Año commended local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila for their quick distribution of financial assistance to low-income households.
DILG said on Thursday, September 2, that the National Capital Region LGUs distributed Php 10.7 billion worth of cash aid as of Tuesday, August 31.
The said figure corresponds to 95 percent of the Php 11.2 billion allocated by the Philippine government to help families affected by the two-week long enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.
Año said that a total 10,663,537 beneficiaries received cash assistance worth at least Php 1,000 per individual.
DILG mentioned that the LGUs of Quezon City, Manila, Caloocan, Pasig, Malabon, and Navotas have already managed to finish distributing the emergency cash assistance.
Meanwhile, San Juan, Pateros, Las Piñas, Mandaluyong and Pasay City have distributed 90 to 99 percent of the cash assistance granted to them.
Año said that the LGUs have until September 10 to finish distributing the financial aid to their qualified constituents.
