The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered all city and municipal local chief executives (LCEs) nationwide to submit a list of tricycle drivers who are qualified to receive fuel subsidy.
They are given until Tuesday, April 26, to hand over the list to their respective DILG regional offices so the recipients can be validated and receive aid.
"I urge all City and Municipal LCEs to produce a validated list of qualified tricycle drivers who will receive the Pantawid Pasada Program fuel subsidy. Kailangan po ito ng ating mga kababayang tricycle drivers who have been burdened by the recent unprecedented oil price hikes," said DILG Secretary Eduardo Año in a statement.
(I urge all City and Municipal LCEs to produce a validated list of qualified tricycle drivers who will receive the Pantawid Pasada Program fuel subsidy. Our tricycle drivers who have been burdened by the recent unprecedented oil price hikes need it.)
According to Año, the list should be certified by the Tricycle Franchising Board, the head of the local Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association, as well as City or Municipal Mayors and Vice Mayors.
"This is to ensure that the list we will forward to the DOTr-LTFRB (Department of Transportation - Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board) is correct and legitimate," said the secretary.
The DOTr-LTFRB is the government agency managing the distribution of fuel subsidy or Pantawid Pasada Program to qualified drivers.
Under the initiative, recipients are entitled to fuel assistance of up to P6,500. It covers affected jeepney, UV express, mini bus, bus, shuttle service, taxi, and tricycle drivers.
It also covers other full-time ride-hailing drivers, such as transport network vehicle service and motorcycle taxis, as well as other delivery services nationwide.
"Sana po ay paspasan po natin ang pag-aasikaso ng listahang ito para kahit papaano ay maibsan ang pasanin ng ating mga drayber," Año appealed to LCEs.
(I hope we can speed up the delivery of this list to at least reduce the burden on our drivers.)
