Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos urged Filipino voters not to participate in vote-buying and vote-selling in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 30.

Abalos stressed that those who commit crimes such as drug use and ask for payments in towns and barangays should not be placed in positions because nothing good will happen in the country.

According to the Interior Secretary, he has received reports that some barangay captains have no sources for public service.

He also reminded the barangay officials to submit an inventory of their properties and financial documents to the DILG.

Moreover, Abalos emphasized that having peace and quiet elections is not the only thing necessary, but an election that is genuine and comes from the heart.
