Mary Jane Veloso's family's supposed visit to Indonesia was canceled due to her impending transfer to another facility, which marks the start of the process for her return to the Philippines.
In a statement on Sunday, Mary Jane Veloso's parents revealed that they received a notice from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs (OUMA) informing them that their scheduled visit to their daughter in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, scheduled for December 16 to 18, had been canceled.
Although a definite date for Mary Jane Veloso’s return to the Philippines has not been confirmed, she reportedly traveled to Jakarta to begin her transfer process.
"Kami, mga magulang at anak ni Mary Jane ay nanghihinayang na hindi kami matuloy sa pagbisita kay Mary Jane dahil napaghandaan po namin ito at nasasabik namin siyang makasama makalipas ng isang tao mula ng huli naming bisita sa kanya," the parents stated.
"Gayunpaman, kami ay masayang masaya dahil malapit na ang pag uwi ni Mary Jane sa ating bansa," they added.

On December 6, Indonesia and the Philippines signed an agreement to finalize the repatriation of Mary Jane Veloso.
Indonesian Senior Minister for Law and Human Rights, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, stated that President Prabowo Subianto had ordered Mary Jane Veloso’s transfer to the Philippines before Christmas, potentially around December 20.
Earlier, Indonesia expressed its commitment to respecting any decision made by the Philippines regarding Veloso’s case upon her return, including the potential granting of clemency.
On November 20, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that Veloso was finally set to return to the Philippines after more than a decade of negotiations and appeals to Indonesia.
Veloso was arrested by Indonesian authorities in Yogyakarta in 2010 after 2.6 kilograms of heroin were found in her luggage. She was later sentenced to death for drug trafficking.
