The Department of Education (DepEd) on Sunday said that there were a total of 11,580 teachers hired and a total of 5,000 administrative officer items were created to lessen the burden of teachers with administrative loads this year.
DepEd's year-end report which was submitted to Malacañang said that 15,332 teachers and school leaders received graduate scholarships while 17,636 were trained in early-grade language literacy.
Moreover, 161,700 teachers completed the National Educators' Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) subsidized teaching courses and 31,700 teachers underwent Teacher Induction Program.
Meanwhile, the DepEd also prepared the National Learning Recovery Plan to assist regions, divisions, and schools to address learning deficiencies caused by the pandemic-related disruptions.
According to DepEd Assistant Secretary Ruby Torio, the plan includes extending the school calendar to establish learning support centers in schools and community-based learning areas, conducting summer learning remediation and intervention programs, and hiring additional learning support aides.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. cited the significance of supporting teachers and not "scrimping on the amount" for the education of children since the country's future relies on them.
