The Secretary of National Defense of the Philippines, Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, related China’s response to illegal drugs seized in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) to body odor.
On Tuesday, July 1, RH Edniel Parrosa reported that Teodoro likened the response to body odor, stating that instead of taking a bath, the person with body odor would rather blame others for the smell.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Spokesman for the WPS, Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad, previously stated that China was responsible for the P10 billion worth of suspected shabu that was seized off the waters of Zambales on June 20. He also mentioned that there were Chinese markings on the illegal drugs, which were intercepted from a Chinese-Malaysian national who was with Filipino fishermen at the time.
However, the Chinese Embassy refuted the statement, describing it as a malicious attack against them from a Filipino military official.
In an ambush interview at Makati City, Parrosa reported that Teodoro backed Trinidad’s statement, and compared it to a foul smell coming from one’s body.
“Ngunit itong buga ng ito ng chika, dahil nahuli sila, hindi galing sa bibig ito. Galing sa ibang parte ng katawan na bumubuga. Hindi sa bibig,” he said.
“Pag isang tao ay may putok, pinag-uusapan yung tao. Imbis na maligo yung tao, sasabihin niya diperensya yung ilong ng mga nakakaamoy. ‘Yan ang ginagawa ng chika,” he added.
The Philippine Navy Spokesperson, Capt. John Percie Alcos previously confirmed in a statement that the vessel was carrying several foreign nationals during the joint operation.
